Language of instruction

All programmes are taught entirely in English. Knowledge of French or Spanish is not required for admission, although students may study local languages as electives.

Applicants are generally expected to demonstrate at least B2-level English. For Bachelor’s admission, the school normally accepts qualifications such as IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or an equivalent result. Higher English levels are required for postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

Admission

Admission is based on a review of the applicant’s academic qualifications, English proficiency, motivation and suitability for the programme.

Bachelor’s applicants normally need:

• a recognised secondary-school diploma, Swiss Maturité, International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification;

• at least 30 IB points for International Baccalaureate applicants;

• proof of English proficiency;

• academic transcripts and supporting documents;

• a reference letter;

• a written response to a business case study;

• an academic interview.

Unlike highly selective public universities such as EPFL, Geneva Business School does not normally require exceptionally high mathematics or science grades. However, applicants must demonstrate sufficient academic preparation, motivation, maturity and English-language ability.

Accreditations and status

Geneva Business School holds international programme accreditation through IACBE, an organisation recognised by the US Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and has held the Swiss eduQua quality certification for continuing education institutions for many years. It has also received Four Palmes of Excellence from Eduniversal.

It is important to understand that Geneva Business School operates as a private business school and is not a Swiss public university accredited as an institutional university under the Swiss Higher Education Act. It awards private degrees supported by its international programme accreditations. Students should therefore check the recognition requirements of the country, employer or university where they intend to work or continue their studies.
